Why do ear infections increase in Monsoon? 1. Contaminated Rainwater: Rainwater can enter the ears, leading to fungal infections. 2. Humidity: The rise in humidity creates a good breeding ground for bacteria (Otitis Externa or Otitis Media) and fungi (otomycosis), which can invite ear infections. 3. Earbuds and Bruises: Minor bruises from using earbuds can also increase the chances of ear infections by creating a nidus for the bacteria or fungi to infect the skin. 4. Pre-existing ear drum perforations – Holes in the ear drum from past history of ear infection or trauma increase the chances infections by passage of contaminated water into the inner portions of your ear. 5.
