It includes thorough examination looking for red, white or black patches, ulcers or out growths and palpating with gloved fingers for lumps or swellings. The goal of oral cancer screening is to identify mouth cancer early, when there is a greater chance for a cure. If there is any suspicious area the doctor might even advise further tests like a Biopsy to examine the cells under a microscope for a definite diagnosis.
